Nyaaya

Free plain-language guides to Indian laws in several languages, backed by a network of community lawyers

Nyaaya explains Indian laws to non-lawyers in plain, practical language across several languages, with sample forms and state-specific guides, and refers people to lawyers, civil society groups and paralegal volunteers working in communities. Rohini Nilekani came up with the idea and the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy incubated it; it went live in November 2016 and partners with state agencies to reach more people.
